This was not the case with the country which got independence along with us. It had more oreintation towards western world for it's material benefits. After observing various incidents we can know that there was a jealousy factor in china towards India due to its acheivements in global arena. I guess it also wanted to test how long can we stand on our policy of non-alignment. It attacked India on a two front when our Prime minister was away from the country according to few sources. Chinese troops entered Indian lands
which obviously panicked indian government including Nehru. He couldn't do anything and had to seek help from western countries which would deviate us from our non- alignment stand and also push us far from friendly soviet relations. China wanted to humiliate India which was evident from the fact that their troops left India without any direct tussle with our army.
Similar lines can be drawn with recent events but these events escalated in violent ways. We do know how strongly India is dependent on Chinese imports and they do know that any violent act from their side would definitely lead India to boycott Chinese goods and this is definitely a test for our recent initiative of "Atma Nirbhar Bharat". Sudden boycott of chinese goods would leave us with only two options one , is to depend on other countries which would be moving away from "Atma Nirbhar Bharat" initiative which is mostly similar with us moving away from non -alignment policy during indo-china war by seeking assistance from America. The second option is to follow our initiative and completely depend upon our domestic goods which can only happen in long run through systematic evelopment of the Economy.
So the question of the hour is what China really want to show? Is it our impotence to stick to our policies?
or just a beginning to massive massacre through a deadly war? Anyways , its acts are highly critical especially during the deadly pandemic showing its worst phase throughout the world. Let us see whether we can stick to our descision or not and hope for the best.
(P.S: this is a mere opinion)
